Dancers of Damelahamid Bring 鈥淚n Abundance鈥 to Abbotsford Schools

The Dancers of Damelahamid, an internationally recognized Indigenous dance company, recently brought their performance In Abundance to schools across the Abbotsford School District. Mouat鈥檚 Benevolent Nerds Club Turns Extracurricular Time Into Compassionate Support

At W.J. Mouat Secondary, the Benevolent Nerds Club is helping students succeed through compassion, collaboration and peer support.

Led by Grade 11 and 12 volunteers, the club offers tutoring during lunch and after school in subjects like math, English and French. As a student-led extracurricular, it creates an engaging opportunity for students to take initiative while supporting their peers.

When Claire Apostolopoulos began her journey with the Abbotsford School District in January 2000, she could not have imagined the many classrooms, students and creative sparks that would fill the next 25 years.

Now teaching Art and Social Studies at Robert Bateman Secondary School, Claire is being recognized for 25 Years of Service and a career dedicated to helping students discover their abilities, build confidence and experience the joy of learning.

Yale Secondary Students Win Gold at UBC Physics Olympics

When Yale Secondary students walked into the Mystery Lab: Cratering at the 48th Annual UBC Physics Olympics, they weren't sure how to begin. The challenge asked teams to design an experiment testing a scientific hypothesis by dropping materials of different weights and observing the impacts they created.

鈥淭ry to approach things from different angles,鈥 Grade 12 student Julie said. 鈥淔rom the start, we didn鈥檛 know where to start, but after trying out different things, we were able to make headway into the lab.鈥
