Strategic Plan

Preparing Students for Success

In alignment with the B.C. Ministry of Education鈥檚 Framework for Enhancing Student Learning, our district has developed a Strategic Plan to outline the steps we are taking to fulfill our vision. Our 2024-28 Strategic Plan, developed in consultation with our stakeholders, sets the direction for every departmental and operational plan. The plan is comprised of the four key pillars - Student Success, Optimized Resources, Engaging Opportunities and Progressive Workforce.

Fundamentally the Board of Education is committed to ensuring that each staff, regardless of where they serve in the organization, is clear about the important contributions they make towards student success. It is for this reason that this Strategic Plan is designed to create a clear 鈥渓ine of sight鈥 to the district vision. Just as every student is important, every employee鈥檚 contribution is vital to student success.

Our Goals:

  • Improve student success in literacy. 鈥
  • Improve Early Learning. 鈥
  • Improve student sense of well-being. 鈥

  • Improve graduation rates.

Optimized Resources

We are creative and responsible in the management of educational resources.鈥

Our Goals:

  • Increase of capacity of our school facilities. 鈥
  • Maximize budget allocations for instructional staffing. 鈥
  • Maintain a healthy financial position. 鈥
  • Increase resources available to fund capital equipment.鈥

Engaging Opportunities

We provide engaging opportunities for every member of our learning community to contribute to student success.鈥

Our Goals:

  • Increase parent and community engagement. 鈥
  • Increase student participation in extra-curricular activities. 鈥
  • Improve the use of technology (operationally and pedagogically).鈥

Progressive Workforce

We provide a workplace that fosters creativity, inspires excellence, and challenges everyone to embrace growth鈥

Our Goals:

  • Increase employee engagement. 鈥
  • Improve recruitment and retention of staff. 鈥
  • Improve leadership capacity. 鈥
  • Improve employee health, safety and resiliency.


Measuring our Progress

The Abbotsford School District publishes the Measuring Up report, a key resource through which the Board of Education highlights the achievements of the past school year and reaffirms our commitment to the Ministry of Education and Child Care鈥檚 Framework for Enhancing Student Learning. Driven by our core values of respect, trust, integrity, communication, and teamwork, our initiatives align with the goals outlined in our Strategic Plan.
